Playing with Penny Black

Hello and happy Wednesday to you. After a very slow start this morning I have finished the day with a play in my craft room. And finally I have been able to play along with all the girls at Penny Black Saturday Challenge. It has been ages since I have had the chance to join in the fun. But here I am - that is if the challenge is still Monochrome (sometimes I am a bit slow off the mark and make the card too late) Ahhhhh I have just been over to check and it is Monochrome Magic so I fit the bill with this card:
I have used Penny Black Transparent set called Allegro, stamped in versamark and covered with white embossing powder. Then just mounted up on a few layers of card and finished with some ribbon and a hand made fabric flower using sizzix flower layers #9 die with some bling in the middle. Looking at my card on here I think I could of used some thicker ribbon as it looks a bit bare down the bottom - too late now though as it is stuck down solid.
This is the inside view - I have done something completely different this time and used a black base card - I always only use white - so it is very daring for me hehehehe
This is the lovely Penny Black set that I used - purchased from The Glitter Pot - my favourite UK store. I am amazed at how quickly that products get to me from The Glitter Pot here in Australia. I usually order one week and I have it in my hot little hands the next week!
Hmmmmmmm and this is some more stash that I got yesterday, opppssss - it jumped into my cart while I was ordering the latest Magnolia magazine from Scrapbook Boutique. I got two memory box dies that I have been wanting for ages. Then this Hero Arts set that I have wanted for ever and  the star circles set from Spellbinders that I have also wanted for ages - hehehehe what can I say? hehehe plus you get free shipping with orders over $90 so I had to get a few extras to make it worth my while hehehehe.
Ok well I had better go and get dinner cooking - it is Taco's for the boys tonight so not much to do
 really. Have a great night!

Red and yellow and pink and green . . . . . . la la la I can sing a rainbow

Hello everyone and a happy happy Tuesday to you all. I am having a couple of lazy,  not knowing what to do with myself, days at the moment, after my term one finished last week. Hehehe  it is nice, but I am a bit bored. I think I like keeping busy. Anyway I have a little bit of a cold so along with all the other things wrong with this old body - I am taking it easy and not doing anything too much. So what better way to waste a few hours than to play in the craft room.

So I have had a picture of this card up in my craft room from the lovely Beth over  at Beth's Little card Blog  I saw it a little while ago and fell in love! I sent a message to Beth  asking if I could case it straight away. So here is Beth's card over on her blog and here are my two:

The first one that I made wasn't straight - so I had to have a go at a second one(don't look too closely!!!!!). I thought that it looked quite easy but it was a bit tricky lining up all the squares. I cut my squares 2 x 2cm and mounted them up on a 14cm square piece of card. I just love the colours though!!!!! It is such a happy fun card. Thank you so much to Beth for the inspiration.

The sentiment is a hero arts stamp and the punch and surround stamp are from stampin' up. Then  I just finished with some ribbon.

This is the inside view - using stampin' up top note die and my lovely quickutz rainbow die to just finish it off. I haven't used craft card for ages but this has made me love it all over again. So you may be seeing more of it on here.

Ok well I might just have time to go pop a cake in the oven for the boys afternoon tea (that is if I just sign off here and not go looking at every one's blogs hehehe)
Talk to you soon

It's Sunday

Hello and a super happy Sunday to you all, it's a beautiful clear cold day here today. Just lovely in the sun but chilly every where else. Just a quick share with you today
This is another of the Thank you cards that I have made. It is using my new Stamp It stamp called flower butterfly which is soooo lovely. I have used some new papers as well - this one is called Paris from the Bonjour collection from Kaiser and I have teamed it with some bazzill. Then used some handmade flowers with my stampin' up sizzix die called Top Note and the lovely cherry lynn butterfly dies (again). Finished off with some bling and a stampin' up sentiment and die. Ohhh and my ek success leaf punch.

Then as always the inside view - fairly simple but I think it looks good. I hope you like it.

I am off now to go have a nice warm shower and then to take Benji to Shockwave, which is a great festival put on for kids and teenagers here in town. It is on for two days and yesterday was great (although my body didn't think so last night). Ashley spent the whole day there yesterday from 7.30am until 10.30 last night. He was helping out and I thought he would be tired this morning but he still jumped out of bed at 6.30  this morning. The organisers should get a huge pat on the back as it was really great and it was keeping all the kids occupied with all sorts of fun things to do. Like leather working, cup cake decorating, skate boarding, scootering, dancing, singing, lots of games and heaps and heaps more - just great for kids. It was starting off today with billy cart racing but I wasn't up early enough for that - sorry Benji.
Ok well you have a great day

Another card to share

Hello and a happy Friday to you, it is a cold old day here in Smithville today. I have several layers on, as well as my trusty slippers trying to stay snuggly but my nose is still freezing! Apparently it is going down to 3 over the next few days - urgh! I don't do the cold very well - maybe I should just stay in bed all weekend hehehe. Anyway here is another of my cards to show you
This is one of the special cards that I have made for a special person. I had made a similar one in pink a little while ago using the same stamp.I particularly wanted to use this stamp as it has a special meaning to it for me for the person that it is for. Does that make sense hehe it sounds like double dutch now when I read it back. Anyway it is using my lovely Penny Black Angel News (water coloured) along with my Nellie Snellen Doiley dies, my new daisy trail xcut punch (I forgot to show you that one in my new stash photos) a stampin' up sentiment and punch and some ribbon and lace from my stash. Finished with some bling.
This is the inside view - nice and simple.

Anyway that's all for now, I will be back over the weekend to show you some more
have a great day

Playing with the new stash

Hello and a happy Wednesday to you. I had hoped (and tried) to upload this card on Monday for you - but my camera did not want to play the game. It just would not upload the pictures, ahhhhh how frustrating, but with some gentle coaxing in the way of a new set of batteries here we are.

This is the negative image card that I was talking about in my last post. That I had seen someone in blogland do (please forgive me but I do not remember who). It uses the small exotic butterfly dies from Cherry Lynn. I have added my little take on it as the one I had seen was only on a 10 x 15cm rectangle card and for some reason I just cannot do them anymore - I much prefer to work on the square cards (I can never fit all my bits and pieces on the rectangle ones).

I have used kaiser duchess collection papers, along with some bazzill. The Cherry Lynn dies  #DL112, then a little bit of lace and ribbon from my stash. And a couple of really old carl punches for the little butterflies that you can see. I have also added a stampin' up sentiment and stamp. The bow is inspired by Kath from The cubby hole who is the most amazing card maker!!!!!!! It is actually two bows placed on top of each other and then I have also added an extra tail in there to balance it out.

This is the inside view - aren't these butterflies soooo cute. I brought them from Fat Cats Card corner who has super fast service for us here in central Queensland - I often get my parcels the very next day (which is unheard of here in the sticks).

Ok well I am off to do a little more study. The first term is nearly over.
I do have a few other cards to show you but I will upload them over the next few days.
Have a great day

New additions to the already huge stash

Hello, this is my second post for today so scroll down to see the proceeds from my play day yesterday.
Now I am going to show you all on my new stash that I just had to have hehehe

I brought these from a Stampin' up lady that was at our local show - and what a bargain they were. They are all brand new and I got the two top stamp sets for $10 each (whoot whoot big time bargain) and then the stocking stamp set and punch for $40 - how good was that!

Then these little gems are some of the new range of punches from Tonic that I brought to check out how they work - and I must say that they are great!!!!! They only cut out a small section at a time but they are really fine and I will definitely be getting more of them.

Then (yes there is still more hehehe - I'm evil when I start purchasing) I got these sizzix and cherry lynn dies. I have wanted the butterflies for awhile now cause I saw a great card made with the negatives with patterned paper behind it ( I will have a go to show you what I mean). And the others were all on special from Stamp it (one of the companies that I stock). I can't wait to try them - I love love love the flower one - it cuts out an outline of the flower and then has a scalloped edge circle to go behind it - oooohhhh how lovely. I also love the leaves in that one.

Then (still going) I got these buttons from some lovely girls here in Blackall that sell gorgeous stuff. I couldn't resist the buttons - soooo cute. The beautiful butterfly stamp is called Flower Butterfly from Stamp it - I will show you a close up of it when I make a card with it - it is soo delicate and pretty.

T
Then finally this is a quilling mold - but I didn't buy it to use for quilling. I am going to attempt using the mold to make my own pearls using liquid pearls and a couple of the smallest domes - watch this space to see how it turns out.

Ok well that is all of my new stuff (I think anyway hehehe) I am now off to go have a little play.
so have a great Sunday

Finally some time to play

Hello and a super happy Sunday to you all,
I am so sorry that I have been gone sooooo long but study must come first before play time. I am thoroughly enjoying the study so it feels like play time to me as well but I have missed my card making.
So finally yesterday, I packed away the books, cleared the decks and indulged myself in paper and card. AAAAAHHHHHH what bliss!!!!!!
I have some very special cards to make for some very special people who I have to say thank you to. One of which I knew that I needed a computer image for - so I set out to find a computer themed digi stamp. HAHAHA do you know how hard that was? Because if you put digi stamp computer into the search engine all you end up with are a million and one hits for 'what digi stamps are and how they work' URGH!!! Anyway I put my thinking cap on tried 'digi stamp laptop' and bingo I got what I wanted. Although if I had thought about it, I should of remembered that Debby from one of my favourite blogs  A Scrapjourney uses some lovely and fun images from Mo Manning that would of been useful. So I found this delightful little number that I have used for this card:

Perfect for the card that I wanted! Along with the digi stamp I have used some Kaiser paper along with bazzill, one of my new tonic punches (I will show you my new stash in my next post) and some grossgrain ribbon and a stampin' up sentiment and punch.
 This is the inside view.
Then how could I stop by Mo's digital pencil  without buying these - especially as I have one teenage boy in Smithville who refuses to cut his hair, has his skate board attached to his hip, his phone is one hand, ear plugs in his ears. And of course both boys are addicted to video games. They are perfect for this years birthday cards!!

Ok so I did get more than one card made in a whole day - hehehe only just though (the grand total was two hehehe) but I am going to save the other one to share with you on another day. Today is also going to be spent cutting, colouring and playing with that delightful paper stuff. So I wonder how many I can come up with today (hopefully more that 2).

I will be back shortly to show you all of my stash that I purchased while I was having withdrawal symptoms from playing. See there is a reason we should have our fix of paper crafting often cause if we don't we suffer and end up buying more for the stash to make us feel better!
ok talk soon
x joy
p.s. go check out Mo's digital pencil from the link above - she has some adorable digi stamps

Hello and Happy Mothers Day to all the Mums

Ahhhhh life here in Smithville is still study, study, study but I am having this morning off to spend with my boys. They have promised to do lots of jobs for me today but I think they have lost interest now surprise surprise!!!!!!
I thought I would share my cards and pressie (I didn't want much cause I brought my video camera a few weeks ago and that is what I wanted)
The card at the back says - to the Greatest Mum from the ones who love you, admire you, respect you. . .  Exhaust you. hahaha that is from my 13 year old and it is really a laugh cause only yesterday he threw a hissy fit cause I wouldn't let him do something and believe me he didn't love, admire and respect me then hehehe but he sure did exhaust me!!!!! Still gotta love him! (at least he went to some effort hehehe)
Then this is the card that Benji made for me - how lovely is it!!!!!! He had even layered the balloons and butterflies - job well done - I think!
This is the inside view - just lovely!

Ok well I am off to go have a diet coke before I start on the conclusion for my essay (the reason I haven't been card making). Hopefully I will be able to get cracking on cards soon as this is week 11 of my first 12 week term yippee nearly finished - but I must say I am still loving every minute of it!

Before I go a big wave to everyone who visits and leaves comments  - I love getting comments

Ok well have a great day
