Missing in action . . . . . AGAIN

We have had to pop back to Brisbane again for Hubbies 5 week check up and then some doctors appointments for me so will have no card making for awhile. I did manage to have another play for half a day just before we left but didn't get any uploading done. Maybe just maybe I will get some craft shopping done while I'm away this time . . . . . . . sssssshhhhhhh don't tell hubby I said that hehehehehe

I'm Back

And finally into the card making.

Hubby is 4 weeks post surgery today and is slowly getting better although has been hit by a nice dose of vertigo today poor thing. The last four weeks have been busy indeed. We had to stay in Brisbane for a week before he was able to travel then we did the 1000km journey over three days as he was in so much pain. Then when we got home we realised that we weren't set up for invalid's hehehe. Our shower is set into a spa bath which is quite high off of the ground so I have had to help him into and out of the shower as well as doing regular physio sessions with him. Along with the mowing and all the housework (obviously hubby does more around the house than I thought hehehe)I haven't had much time to play. Until yesterday. . . . . .

So here is my little dose of relaxation that I had yesterday and today - ahhhhh the heaven of just sitting and playing in my little craft room. Listening to the kiddoes playing outside with their friends. Ahhhh just me and the paper and ribbon and glitter and stamps and and and. . . . . . . . . .

oh what fun I had.

No Card making going on at the moment

All things are very quiet as far as card making at the moment. My darling husband has just had knee replacement surgery last Monday and both of us underestimated just how hard his recovery would be. The surgery went very well but having your knee cut out and and replaced with a shiny new titanium one has really been tough on him. We are still in Brisbane - 1000kms away from home and staying at Hubby's brothers place for now until he is well enough to travel. The closest thing to card making that I am doing at the moment is reading my Card Maker magazine in between my nursing duties.

Usually a trip to Brissy means I get to hit the craft shops but this time I have not even gone near one :( - I really don't need any more stuff hehe

Another secret panel card

Just for the record in case you are wondering I do own more than just Magnolia stamps but lately I find myself reaching for my beloved Magnolia more and more. Hehehehe. I will try and use some others but for now here is another card made with . . . . . you guessed it another Magnolia. I hope you like it :)

Get Well Card

This is a card that was inspired by Amy Wegener from Stampinstuff. I just loved these high hopes stampes as soon as I saw them but I wasn't sure if I would use them. Then I saw Amy's version on her blog (http://www.stampinstuff.bogspot.com/) and I just had to have a go. Isn't he just so cute!!!!!! I think he would look lovely in purple as well. Thank you for the inspiration Amy.

I have actually had a whole day to myself today (well 6 hours of it anyway) and I had planned to spend the whole time in my craft room but I have just looked at the clock and I now only have 2 hours left (boo hoo). I have unfortunately spent the day saying "oh I'll just get this job done then I'll go and get crafting" and you know how the story goes - one job leads to another job and now 4 hours have gone by. So off I go right now to get going. I wonder what I can come up with in 2 hours. hmmmmmm where will I start. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Secret Panel Card

This is a card that recently saw on my travels on the world wide web and I just had to have a go. I will put the credits up when I find it again lol (I often get lost on the www and who knows where I end up sometimes) anyway this will be one of our projects at this months papercrafting group - I love it and it is easy to do :)

Tissue paper flowers

These are my latest trial - some tissue paper flowers. I am very happy with them. I started off using white tissue then tried some floral pattern then some lacey gold - and i think all three have worked well.

I started by wrapping some lace around a brad, pushing the brad through the lace to secure it at intervals then I layered the small, medium and large flower shapes from my sizzix flower layers #9 die. Then it is just a matter of scrunching each shape seperately until all of the shapes are scrunched then you just unfold it all. I used about 7 or 8 layers of tissue paper for each flower.

Then I have had a go at adding different effects to a few to see what they looked like - I tried perfect pearl mists, kindy glitz, inked edges and using different sized shapes - all turned out lovely.
